保继光，理学博士，二级教授，博士生导师，招收数学教育和偏微分方程方向的研究生。1981～1988年在北京师范大学数学系学习，获学士和硕士学位。1988年至今在北京师范大学工作。1995～1998年在北京大学数学科学学院学习，获博士学位，导师为张恭庆院士。2000～2001年在加拿大University of British Columbia做博士后研究，合作导师为Nassif Ghoussoub院士。
现任教育部高等学校数学类专业教学指导委员会委员，教育部高中数学课程标准修订组成员，教育部高中数学课程标准测试组成员，教育部考试中心高考考试内容改革专家工作委员会委员，中国少数民族数学教育专业委员会副理事长，中国大学先修课程数学专家委员会委员，中国科协、教育部英才计划数学学科导师，北京数学会监事长，北京数学教育中心学术委员会委员，《普通高中课程标准实验教科书·数学》主编，《数学通报》主编，《北京师范大学学报（自然科学版）》主编，《数学进展》副主编，《数学的实践与认识》和Analysis in Theory and Applications编委，中共北京师范大学党委委员，基础学科拔尖学生培养试验计划专家委员会副主任、理科组组长，谢宇教育基金会总裁，海淀区人民法院人民陪审员等职，享受国务院政府特殊津贴。
研究方向为偏微分方程和数学教育，主要涉及几何、材料和生物等领域，在Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, Annales de l'Institut Henri Poincaré, Journal of Differential Equations, Calculus of Variations and PDE's, Advance in Mathematics, Journal of Functional Analysis, American Journal of Mathematics, Transactions of the American Mathematical Society, Scientific Reports和Biomaterials等国际高水平刊物上共发表 70余篇科研论文，出版本科生教材《偏微分方程》（"十二五"普通高等教育本科国家级规划教材、北京市精品教材）和研究生教材《偏微分方程》，以及10余篇教学论文。
曾两次任北京师范大学数学系党总支部书记，两次任bte365娱乐场院长。曾获宝钢优秀教师特等奖，明德优秀教师奖，国家级高等教育教学成果2等奖，北京市教育教学成果奖1等奖，北京市优秀教师，北京市教学名师，北京市优秀博士学位论文指导教师，北京市翱翔计划优秀指导教师等奖励。
2003年和2006年分别当选为北京市海淀区第13和14届人民代表大会代表，2007年当选为北京市第13届人民代表大会代表。
与本科《偏微分方程》主要是求解各类定解问题非常不同，在研究生阶段将对来自几何、物理、生物等领域中的偏微分方程进行定性的研究。
进行高中课标和教材的研发工作。
